"Dogs should all be running together as a pack"...NOT!
A pack is a bunch of animals that run and hunt together.
My dogs are not a pack.
They do not all run together, and they surly don't hunt together.
A PACK of canines find and kill other animals.
A PACK of canines do not allow a strange canine into their pack very often...usually if a
strange canine comes near the pack they are killed.
A PACK of canines have a very strict social order. The "top dog" tells all the rest what
to do, when to sleep, when to eat and if a decision is made another member of the pack
will be beaten up, killed, or banished from the pack, lots of times to die. The bottom of
this social pack usually gets beaten up every day, or probably many times a day...
For some reason people think a pack is a good way for our domesticated dogs to live,
and all dogs should get along and be the pack! But if the pack does not want a certain
dog in it they will fight....if this happens is the dog that wants to fight bad!? They are
only behaving like a PACK !
My dogs are a FAMILY.
They are domesticated dogs. Yes, I am the head of the family (sometimes Doug!)
My family members do not all run together. I do not want my dogs to set up a pecking
order. I want me to be number one, Doug number two and the rest of the family as equal.
I never let any dogs beat up on any others. If I have a very submissive dog I work with it
and train so it will be ok.
In a pack this dog would be beaten every day, in my family it is not!
Some of My family members run and play together, some share the sofa, some even the
bed...some do not play well will some others so I do not let those ones play together.
Its nothing to have 5 shepherds, a poodle and a cat all watching tv with us.
My family all have their own space , at night they all have their own beds...alone.
Well except for the ones on my bed! Yes, holy crap, I allow my dogs on my bed!
And no this does not cause them to become dominant over me, or what ever people
say!! Cause when I don't want them on the bed I simply tell them to get off!
More and more I am hearing of dogs being attacked by other dogs in public places.
People think it is just fine to let their dogs run up to other dogs. It is NOT OK!
We own a small dog, have always had a small dog. We do not EVER allow him to growl
or think he can take on a bigger dog. It just will not work. More times than enough I
have see people with little dogs allow them to growl and actually go after a big dog. The
little dog is standing on its hind legs going crazy at the big dog, but the big dog has to
just stand there. If the big dog grovels back HE is the bad one!!?? I have even heard
people say "oh, that is soooo funny! My little dog going at your shepherd..heheh" ya real
funny until the big one has had enough of the little one snapping at him...then does the
same think as the sweet little dog! Again, I have nothing against small dogs, I love them,
and own then, but I sure do have lots against small dog owners who do not train and
discipline their dogs because they are
"so small, cute, fluffy and could never do anything wrong"
This is almost as bad as all the "rescue" dogs who can get away with anything they
want.....because he is a rescue!!
I can't believe how many times I have heard that.....
and lots of times from seasoned dog owners!!
OK...that's a whole other write up!
Check out "he's allowed...he's a rescue!" (when I get brave enough to put it on here!!)
I know, I know......just press delete....
