Our goal is to breed puppies with sound minds and healthy bodies combined with balanced temperaments, and that noble look. This combination makes the total package for a great German Shepherd, allowing them to become loyal companions, protective friends, beautiful family pets, and great working and sport dogs.
Over the years of breeding dogs we have learned many things, but one of the most important is that having a dog as part of your family is a great and rewarding experience. Everyone should feel the love and devotion that a canine companion can bring into their lives. Another thing we have learned is we will breed for what we want, not what some judge wants to see, or breed because this dog has that title, or this title.
All of our dogs are valued family members and receive the love and attention they deserve. We raise only a few litters a year so the puppies will receive the attention and socialization that is so important in their early development. It also allows us to spend time with each litter and watch them grow and develop into their own personalities so when it is time for the new families to get their new puppy we can pick the right match for them.
We temperament test our puppies from day one, and by the time they are ready to go we know them very well!
All of our dogs are OFA or German stamped certified clear of hip dysplasia. All puppies will be CKC registered, micro-chipped, tattooed, de-wormed, vaccinated, vet checked and come with a written guarantee, as well as 6 weeks insurance. You will also receive a 5 generation pedigree along with a photo album, lots of fun info on puppy stuff and a health record of the puppy. We provide continuous after sales support and assistance to all of our shepherds and puppy buyers, and feel honored when these people come back for their second puppy. We have one family who bought a puppy from our very first litter and have now owner 5 of our dogs!
Our puppies are born in our house where we can constantly watch over and monitor their growth and development. We have a video camera in the whelping room so we can watch the mother and puppies without always disturbing them. Once they are 5-6 weeks old, they are allowed to be outside in our big covered kennel runs so they get to interact with the adult dogs and see the big wide world. We believe that lots of handling, attention, love and socializing is essential for our pups. We spend many hours walking down Main street Courtenay and standing in front of busy stores with our pups!
A deposit is recommended. Usually our puppies are spoken for before they are born.
A non refundable deposit of $500 is required to hold a puppy for you.
This can be transferred to another litter should there not be a suitable pup in the current litter.
Deposits are taken on a first come first serve bases.
The deposit will go toward the total price of the puppy. We do not have a "Puppy Buyers Questionnaire" for you to fill out. We would rather talk to you and find out lots of things about you and exactly what you want in a pup. We do need to talk to you, even if its over the phone because sometimes its not possible to meet in person. However, we have had families fly out to visit, then put a deposit down, and that is great!!!
Sometimes with the internet, emails seem to take over....emailing is just not the same as talking to someone!
We have returned deposits and denied people from buying our pups.
Sometimes we will take a deposit before we really get to know someone, and that's fine, when you put a deposit down that's telling me you are serious about getting a pup. But before the families get their baby we need to talk!! We have many people telling us to "put us on your list", or "let us know when you have a litter" but usually the pups are all spoken for before they are born, again, that's why we take deposits.
Just because we take a deposit does not mean we have to sell you a pup. These are OUR babies. We are responsible for their well being and sometimes something just doesn't feel right with a potential family. Not that the family is bad, but maybe they are just not ready for a new member. Our first feelings about a home are usually correct.
In all these years we have had a couple of homes that we were worried about, we bought back both of those dogs.. the rest of the homes are amazing, some dogs are just too darn spoiled, but that is OK!!!!
